Welcome to
African Debaters Initiative
Saturday, 12th July, 2025

The African Debaters Initiative (ADI) is a program launched under Mythos Foundation and Afribright Network to nurture oratory, critical thinking, and civic engagement skills among primary school learners. Building on the success of our past initiatives such as the African Writers Initiative, ADI aims to give students a platform to articulate their ideas, engage constructively with peers, and connect global issues to their lived realities.

Event Theme:
"Great Minds; Voices That Lead"
This year’s theme invites students to see themselves as thought leaders in their communities; young minds capable of questioning, innovating, and leading the future of education, technology, and social change.

Debate Motion:
“Artificial Intelligence is a threat to quality education in primary schools.” This motion is designed to guide students in exploring the intersection of AI and educational quality, understand global technological trends, and reflect on how these shifts might impact learning, equity and access within their own classrooms and beyond.

Event Objectives
1. Promote critical thinking and oratory among primary school learners.
2. Encourage students to evaluate the benefits and challenges of artificial intelligence in the context of their educational experiences.
3. Foster leadership, confidence, and informed civic engagement at an early age.
4. Offer mentorship and guidance from experienced debaters, educators, and public speakers.
5. Bridge global discourse with local context, empowering students to connect world trends to their everyday lives.
Keynote Speakers
The Keynote speakers were Kenyan visionaries who went through the same educational experiences as the participants of the African Debaters Initiative, and got the opportunity to not only study in top global colleges, but also made the most out of their college experience. This allows the participants to dare to dream big, to chase their dreams to the furthest star, to always go the extra mile.
